January 16th – “Your Unique Design”

“For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more” Luke 12:48

You know what revelation I walked away with these long months of social distancing, in this world of restrictions, whilst working from home? I’m still not a great singer.

I’m a joyful “noise-maker” FOR SURE. But, as I danced and lifted up my voice in the Lord’s presence this last Sunday watching that amazing worship set led by our very own Worship Leaders Andrea Hall and Pastor Richard Brown, I knew for sure, and my family nearby knew for sure, that I don’t really have that talent. But you know what else I realized? What the Lord didn’t give me, He doesn’t require from me.

“For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more” Luke 12:48

About as sure as I am that God will not require an account of my ability to perform well in a dunk contest, given He graced me with 5 feet and exactly 3 and a half inches, I am confident that the Lord will not require an account from me based on what He deposited in my natural ability to sing. But, there IS an investment that the Lord has made in all of us. He does require something of us. In our desire to be found faithful servants in His triumphant second coming (1 Thess 4:16-17; Heb 9:28; Rev 1:7), we must take the time to know the Master’s will, prepare ourselves, and do according to His will (Luke 12: 47). We have all been entrusted with at least one talent according to our ability that we must take and multiply with the time that we have. Our God who so wonderfully has His mind FULL of us (Psalm 8:4) and so CARES for us (1 Peter 5:7) REQUIRES that we don’t bury our talents.

DISCOVER what God has placed in you and why, and as He directs, use all of you for the furtherance of His kingdom. Furthermore, earnestly desire and make every effort to steward the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has graced to us as He willed gifts for the profit of all (1 Corinthians 12:7,11)!

Maybe we are not presently walking in the manifestation of the gifts of healing by the Spirit, BUT the Lord is working through us prophetically. As the spirit leads, gift your gift! And be sure to do so in the most excellent way – in love! (1 Corinthians 12:31).

Reflect: If you aren’t yet clear on what the Lord has placed in you, don’t worry, He’ll help you!
What is one way you think you can pursue greater awareness or greater excellence flowing in your unique design this year?

Prayer: Dear Father, You are a mighty God and mighty are the works of Your hands! As members of Your body, cause us to uncover and function with excellence in our unique design. Give us grace to be content with what we have because You were and are very intentional with Your deposits. What You might grace my friend to do, might not be what You have graced me to do. But, that’s great! I know that You Master Architect never designed this body with one member, one singer or one teacher in mind. You want ALL of the good we ALL can do. And so, may all of our different gifts and all of our different talents, be discovered, developed and deployed as arranged by You God, as You please, for Your glory. In Jesus name, amen.
