January 20th – “If He Said It, He Will Do It….Faithful God

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23 ESV

The faithfulness of God never ceases to amaze me and it is something I don’t think I will ever fully wrap my mind around. It can be described as “fidelity which makes one true to His promises and faithful to His task”. The Bible reminds us over and over again that our Father is faithful. If your 2020 was anything like mine, it might have been hard to pinpoint exactly where this faithfulness came into play, but as Jesus reminds us in John 16:33 “Take heart because I have overcome the world”.

Yes, things may not have gone the way we wanted them to go, in fact, they may have even gone worse than we could have ever imagined, but be encouraged that God is STILL IN CONTROL. In fact, He is making those things that didn’t go well work in your favour. Romans 8:28 gives us that assurance, and because He said it, He will do it.

God is SO faithful that He kept his promises to Abraham 400 years after he had died. God promised Abraham that the Israelites would be slaves for 400 years, but that God himself would “Punish the nation they served as slaves, and afterward, that they would come out with great possession” (Genesis 15:13-14). If God has given you a VISION, you have to believe that by His PROVISION what He has purposed will not be thwarted. If He said it, He will do it, and though the vision may tarry, it will surely come to pass (Habakkuk 2:3).

So what do we do in those times when God seems slow, or even unconcerned with the things that concern us? You have to trust that He is God and that He is faithful, because if He said it, He will do it. God’s faithfulness gives us the audacity to have radical, unshakable faith that despite what we may see, IF HE SAID IT, HE WILL DO IT. I sometimes struggle with the thought that I don’t have a specific promise from God concerning my current situation. However, as a believer, I know that every single promise from God in the Bible is available as a promise for us to grab hold of. The Bible has promises for every situation we may find ourselves in. Read His word back to Him, be persistent in your prayers, and believe that If He said it, He will do it!

God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19) and His word never comes back to Him without doing exactly what He said He would do (Isaiah 55:11). Therefore, TRUST in God EVERYDAY and He will NEVER disappoint you!

Reflect:
● What are the situations you need to remind God about His promises to you today as an act of faith?
● What are the situations that you have long forgotten and have deemed hopeless that you need to speak the Word of God into?
● Ask God to help you in any areas where you may be wavering in your faith.

Prayer: Heavenly father, I thank You so much that You have thought about every situation in which I may need a promise from You, and You have provided me with that promise. I am so thankful that I can rely on every word You say. Help me in areas where I may have unbelief, and help me to know and remember that my hope can always be placed in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
