Grace and Peace!
Trusting that all is well and that you and your families are keeping safe during these uncertain times.
In regards to the recommencement of our in person worship gathering. We have decided prayerfully and thoughtfully to delay the start date, although allowed There are a plethora of reasons, the following are the most pressing;
– Only 30% of the capacity of the building is allowed to be present. At 33 McCormack Street that works out to 70 individuals including children with a distance of 6ft between them. Our services typically have an attendance of above 70, not to mention the interest of new guests who through our online presence, have expressed intentions of visiting in person once KCLC returns to in person gatherings. We would never want to be in a position to refuse anyone access to our services.
– Public Health Toronto has strongly advised that there should be no singing or loud/energetic speaking at any in person gathering. Also the use of face coverings throughout the gathering must be strictly adhered to. These directives greatly inhibit the culture and exuberance of our worship service to God and to each other.
– 33 McCormack St. is not only utilized by KCLC but by three other congregations. This poses a real health threat as to the potential spread of Covid-19 amongst all congregations, including our own. I am sure you will agree that these restrictions outweigh the advantages of worshipping physically together. Our plan is to monitor the directives of Public Health Toronto concerning the usage of buildings for large gatherings as well as ensuring that best practices are being observed by the building management at 33 McCormack St. and all congregations.
We hope to be in a better position for in person worship services by July 12th and will confirm this by June 28th.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers in this season.
